Corgi Model Club 1:44 - Volkswagen Beetle European Police Car, Geen/White - 492

Following the popularity of the Volkswagen East African Safari rally car, Corgi issued their second Beetle in 1966, just one year later. The features of the earlier model were repeated, most notably the steering feature – although this time via a roof-mounted emergency light (which came in either yellow or blue) with a ribbed chrome surround.

The model was most commonly produced in a green and white West German ‘Polizei’ livery, with a mid-brown interior and two police figures. As with the rally version, the bonnet and engine lid opened, the front headlights were jewelled and the bumpers and running boards were chromed. There were even tiny VW-badged mudflaps on the rear wheels!
