In 1983, the young Finnish talent Juha Kankkunen signed as an official Toyota driver to compete with a Celica Twin Cam in the World Championship and other events selected by the team. That's how ‘KKK’ found himself at the start of the 1985 Lotto Haspengouwrally in Belgium. The Finn returned to asphalt and Belgium, but it was his first time at the wheel of a Toyota. Right away, the talent of the flying Finn put him in the fight for victory. He excelled among the locals, but was disqualified at the end of the race. The reason given by the Belgian stewards was that the brake callipers were not the correct size for the national standard. Proof that the legendary ‘Belgian tizzy' has been here for a very long time!
